LAS VEGAS, Nev.–Grant McKay (Championship), John Bobroski (Senior), Chris Cookson (Silver) and David Haddock (Net) won titles in the 2026 Nevada Golf Southern Region Tour Series tournament. The one-day event was held Feb. 27, 2026, at Palm Valley Golf Club.–by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider

Championship
Grant McKay won three times in 2025 but it could have been more as he lost twice late in the year in scorecard playoffs–one of them to Matt Mitchell.
McKay is now in the winner’s column for the first time in 2026, winning the Championship Division in a scorecard playoff…over Mitchell.
“One of the great things is it’s extremely competitive out here and that’s awesome,” McKay said. “You go out and try to shoot the lowest number possible and fortunately this time it worked out.”
McKay said the start of the 2026 season has him fired up.
“I don’t feel like I did a great job of putting myself in a good position to score off the tee in 2025,” he said. “Now, I’m starting to drive it a lot better and putting a lot better and that’s made a big difference.”
The win has certainly boosted his confidence.
“The idea is to capitalize when you’re hitting it well and I did that,” he said. “If you drive it in position and chip and putt well, you’re going to play a lot of consistent golf.”

John Bobroski overcame a slow start–he was four-over-par in a three-hole stretch early in the round–but rallied to win the Senior Division by one stroke.
It was Bobroski’s first victory of 2026 after posting five wins in 2025.
“I certainly didn’t expect to win,” Bobroski said. “It was just one of those things we’ve all gone through. Kelly (Knievel) had a four-shot lead and…well, it’s just the game of golf. Kelly just had a bad hole. We’ve all been there.”
Bobroski said he was happy he stayed focused despite the bad run of holes.
“I actually played pretty solid,” he said. “I just had a couple of errors in judgement on those holes and made two stupid bogeys and a double. But I knew I could come back.”
He did just that and had three birdies, seven pars and a lone bogey over his final 11 holes.
“I just try to play each hole one at a time and do the best I can,” he said. “I just want to have fun throughout the whole day. I had a lot of birdie attempts that just didn’t fall.”
He said he’s now got his sights set on next week’s first major: The 2026 SNGA Championship.
“I hope to do well in the majors,” he said. “The majors were my downfall last year. I did not play well. I’m going to try and eventually win the Player of the Year…that’s my goal this year.”

Chris Cookson used a five-birdie run at the turn (holes eight, nine, 10, 11 and 12) in breezing to a six-stroke victory in the Silver Division.
It was Cookson’s second win of 2026 as he also won the Tournament of Champions in early February.
“Since the last time we talked, my putting is improving,” he said. “I’m making some eight, 10 and 12-foot putts that may be for birdies or par saves and those have changed the dynamics of my game.”
He added that his short game is also coming around nicely.
“I chipped in for eagle on 14,” he said. “I drove it on the front of the green but it rolled back off but I still managed the eagle with the chip.”
While he’s come out of the gates hot in 2026, he’s still looking to improve his game.
“I’m very pleased with the way I’m playing,” he said. “I could tighten up a couple of shots here and there but that’s going to happen to everyone.”

David Haddock had a roller-coaster round, posting scores from a two to an eight (with no seven) during his round en route to winning the Net Division title.
It was Haddock’s first win since a 2020 victory in the SNGA Championship.
“Palm Valley is my home course so that’s a little bit of an advantage,” he said. “Hopefully I can keep it up next week.”
Two of Haddock’s scorecard numbers, one of the threes he posted (an eagle) and the two (a birdie) came on back-to-back holes early in the back nine.
“I was just trying to get all the numbers,” he said with a laugh. “It was certainly pretty wild. It was interesting.”
He said his main goal was to stay consistent.
“I played it safe,” he said. “It’s one of those rounds that’s tough to say what worked well. I did hit five-iron off most tees and didn’t have any errant shots so that worked out for me. Out here, you’ve got to keep it in the fairway and I did a pretty good job of that.”
Haddock added that there was one other bright spot in the day.
“I beat my dad (Dave, who shot 73 and wound up third),” he said. “We compete out here fairly often and he usually beats me so it’s nice to get a win.”
