April Higuera opened with a pair of pars and went on to post a two-stroke victory in the Gross Division.

It was Higuera’s second win of the season as she recently won a Women’s Team Series event, partnering with Susan Hood.

“I did not play well today but apparently nobody else did either,” Higuera said with a laugh.

Higuera said the first two holes were nice but then came a few problems.

“I kind of lost it…and then everyone else did as well,” she said. “I crashed and burned first and then my nearest competitor did and then a third competitor did. It came down to the last hole and I parred it to win.”

Higuera said even when things aren’t going her way, she finds a way to fight through it.

“I have pretty good focus,” she said. “In the end, you’re either going to win or you’re not. Today it came down to the last hole and I managed to win.”

Robin Richman posted two net eagles and went on to win the Net title in a scorecard playoff.

It was Richman’s first tournament title.

“I’m really excited,” Richman said. “I started off pretty good but I had one terrible hole. Other than that, I kept up my concentration pretty well.”

She also had a secret weapon in the bag.

“I have a new three-wood,” she said. “But I went out to the garage and got my old three-wood out. It felt like I had my old friend back. I just told myself, ‘You know how to hit this.’ ”

Richman also has a major goal going forward.

“My putting was average,” she said. “I had a few three putts and I would love to avoid those going forward.”
