WINNEMUCCA (Sept. 13, 2026)–The teams of Emily Byrne-Laura Smith (Gross) and Lori Elliott-Elaine Walker (Net) won titles in the 2026 Women’s Team Series at Winnemucca. The two-day Nevada Golf Northern Region tournament was held Sept. 12-13, 2026, at Winnemucca Golf Course.–by Bill Bowman
The tournament’s first round featured a best-ball format while teams used an alternate shot format in the finale.

Gross
Emily Byrne and Laura Smith played a four-hole stretch during the first round in three under par (two birdies by Smith and one by Byrne) in winning the Gross title.
It was the third time the duo has won a team event in 2026.
“We were pretty steady…nothing flashy,” Byrne said. “It was just two solid days of golf.”
Byrne said one of the highlights of the two days was a bogey.
“Laura holed out from a bunker for a bogey and that was huge,” Byrne said. “We were both in trouble after we both went OB. We were both chipping for bogey and she holed her bunker shot. It was impressive.”
Byrne added the team’s success comes from their outlook.
“We have fun playing together,” she said. “We don’t take it too seriously. We’re out there to have a good time. When we do that, we play well. We also have similar games and attitudes about the game. It all works out well for us.”
