About the Senior Amateur

Annually, emotions run high at the Nevada State Women’s Golf Association Women’s Senior Amateur each year because winning the prestigious event is a major goal for the top players in Nevada. Ronda Henderson, who also qualified for the U.S. Senior Women’s Open earlier in the year, won the 2019 rendition and a few tears were she because the title had eluded her for many years. There have been several other worthy champions over the years.

Golf course management also relish the opportunity to host the tournament. In 2019, Highland Falls head professional Jim Neighbors spoke for other professionals who have had the honor of hosting the top women’s senior players in Nevada..

“It’s really cool to host such a prestigious event and our staff is ready and the course is ready and we will have terrific conditions for every level of player,” Neighbors said. “Hosting a tournament like this shows the respect our course has–winning the Best of Las Vegas four of the last five years–and we are now among the more recognizable courses in the state. We take a lot of pride in our conditions and it will be great to see the top players competing out here.”

No matter where or when, the State Senior Amateur brings out the best in everyone.
