Regina Quintero won her second Nevada State Women’s Senior Amateur, posting a seven-shot victory in the 2026 event.

Quintero, representing the WSNGA, won the Net title in 2024 and said winning her first state gross title is definitely good for the confidence.

“I hit the ball pretty solidly both days and putted OK,” Quintero said. “Overall, for a 75 and a 78 over the two days I’m really happy with that.”

Quintero said her main focus was course management.

“I just tried to stay in control of everything,” she said. “On this course you have to stay in position so I just tried to hit to specific areas. I wanted to get on greens in two and two-putt. I just kept telling myself that pars are good. If you get chances for birdie, that’s OK but I just wanted to stay away from blowup holes and keep cruising along.”

Quintero added that her short game also helped out.

“I also scrambled pretty well,” she said. “I had to get up-and-down out of bunkers and also had a few short chips in front of greens and I played those shots pretty well. I made some good five-or-six foot putts for par which keep you going.”

Pam Trombatore, representing the Reno Women’s Golf Association, posted four net birdies in a six-hole stretch to claim the Net crown.

It was Trombatore’s first state title.

“It’s a good feeling,” she said of the victory. “And it was a lot of fun. I’m just tickled pink.”

Trombatore added she still has parts of the game she wants to improve.

“My ball-striking was good today and that helped but I did not hit the ball as well off the tee as I would have liked,” she said. “I’m usually pretty consistent with my driver and fairway woods but I hit a few errant drives and fairway woods. It’s something I’ll definitely work on.”

She also said her mindset was good.

“I didn’t let anything really shake me,” she said. “I hit a couple of balls into the sand that I wasn’t happy with but I took care of those and they didn’t hurt me too much.”

Trombatore said the Nevada Golf tournament has her inspired to get into more fields.

“I can’t wait to get home and see what other events I can sign up for with Nevada Golf,” she said. “I wasn’t sure if I could compete but this tournament lets me feel like I can be competitive. We had early tee times and three-and-a-half hour rounds so it was just a great experience.”
