There is some encouraging news to share as Northern Nevada continues to recover from the Hawk Fire.
Containment has now reached 85% as of this writing, bringing some welcome progress after a difficult week for our communities.
The impact of the fire has been significant. Forty-seven homes have been destroyed, and many individuals and families have been displaced.
The fire has also touched the Nevada Golf family, with employees and family members among those who have been evacuated.
Nevada Golf Is Helping
The Northern and Southern Regions of Nevada Golf along with the Silver State Golf Industry Alliance have joined together to make a $6,000 donation to the 2026 Northern Nevada Wildfire Relief Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada.
The fund is focused on the longer-term needs of wildfire survivors, including transitional housing and rebuilding, and is being distributed in partnership with Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra.

Other Ways to Help
The American Red Cross – Northern Nevada is providing immediate assistance, including shelter, meals, and other emergency services. You can donate at redcross.org or text REDCROSS to 90999.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada says financial donations have the greatest immediate impact, allowing it to purchase food efficiently in bulk and respond to changing needs. Visit fbnn.org to donate.
If you prefer to donate goods, local officials are asking residents not to drop off miscellaneous or unsorted donations directly at emergency shelters. Instead, organizations are coordinating specific needs, including non-perishable food, new pet and cleaning supplies, gift cards, clothing, and household goods.
Good News for Two of Our Own
We’re also happy to share some good news from the Nevada Golf community. The Somerset Golf & Country Club and the public golf course at Sierra Sage have reopened. Both were in the fire’s evacuation area and have been valued members of Nevada Golf for many years, generously hosting tournaments and supporting the game in Northern Nevada.
In addition to being in the evacuation area, Sierra Sage had an extended power outage caused by the fire, during which the power company had to replace damaged utility poles. Now that they’re back open, we encourage our members to go play a round at Sierra Sage. Bring a friend, make a tee time, and show your support for one of our public member clubs.
Recovery will take time, but we are proud to be part of a community that comes together when it matters most.
