Duos Win Titles at 2026 Silver Oak Team Series

CARSON CITY (April 22, 2026)–The teams of April Higuera-Susan Hood (Gross), Suzanne Dugger-April Hackett (Net) and Elizabeth White-Sheri Gaskill (Senior Net) won titles in the 2026 Women’s Team Series. April Higuera and Susan Hood each put a birdie on the scorecard on the back nine in winning the gross title in a scorecard playoff.

Hood said the win was nice but the twosome could have played better.

“It was the first time we played together and we ham and egged it together for sure,” she said. “We both left birdies out there. We left them all just short. It was like ‘are you kidding me.’ But it’s still nice to win even if it’s a scorecard playoff.”

Hood added the weather was also a factor…in many different ways.

“It was a typical Northern Nevada spring day…just about everything you could see,” she said. “It was windy…it looked like it was going to hail…there was sunshine…there was no wind at times. It was just a typical day that we all had to work with.”

After the win, Hood said they are looking for more.

“It was the first event of the year so to win it was exciting,” she said. “We just happened to pair up today so we’ll see what happens going forward.”

Suzanne Dugger and April Hackett posted three net birdies in a four-hole stretch en route to a two-stroke win in the Net Division.

“It was a tough day weather-wise…it was cold and windy,” Dugger said. “But April and I play a lot together and between the two of us we have a nice tempo and it worked well today.”

Dugger added the title also showed both of their golf games are in solid form early in the year.

“I always have the higher handicap,” Dugger said. “I had a 98 today and my goal is to shoot under 100 every time out and so far I’ve done that. April shot an 81 which is her best so it all worked out for us.”

When asked about a shot or hole that sparked the good round, Dugger pointed to one of her playing partners.

“Pennie (Frank) got a birdie on a par-3 with a stroke so that was basically a hole-in-one,” she said with a laugh. “That was very exciting and got our whole group going. Sure, we’re out there to win but we also want everyone to do well and have fun. It’s all about being positive and having fun.”

Elizabeth White and Sheri Gaskill went on a net birdie barrage– putting five of them on the scorecard over their final eight holes–in breezing to the Senior Net title.

They also opened the day with birdies on Nos. 17 and 18, their first two holes.

“This was just amazing,” White said. “At one point, we only had one or two holes where we had the same score so we ham and egged it so well.”

She said the birdie-birdie start could not have been better.

“If you do well the first couple of holes it gets you in the mindset that you can do this,” White said. “There were a couple of times where one of us screwed up but the other one would step up and do well. We just did that all day. It was just an amazing round of golf.”

Despite playing well, White said the two of them never got ahead of themselves.

“You just never know what everyone else is shooting,” she said. “You just have to keep playing your best and see where you end up.”
