The team of Ronda Henderson and Regina Quintero came out of the gate hot, birdieing four of the first seven holes in the first round, en route to a four-stroke victory.
Henderson-Quintero have now gone back-to-back in winning titles in the tournament. It was the third time they have won the tournament overall.
“(Thursday) we only had one team bogey so we definitely played better golf,” Henderson said. “Today we didn’t play our best. We had four team bogeys and we had back-to-back bogeys on 10 and 11. And they were stupid bogeys.”
Henderson said it was time for a quick team meeting between themselves.
“That little talk we had definitely helped us,” she said. “Our nearest competitors parred both of those holes that we bogeyed and it was starting to go a little sideways.”
Henderson said words of advice from Quintero helped get them back on track.
“Regina caddied for me last year at the Women’s U.S. Senior Am,” Henderson said. “She said ‘If we lose, we lose swinging hard and hitting golf shots…not being careful.’ We got the lead by playing solid golf. We just had to stop being so careful.”
Henderson said her putting over the two days was also a key.
“I putted lights out,” she said. “I had 12 birdies over the two days. Regina didn’t have any birdies the first day but she had a couple of great par-saving putts and those can be just as important as birdies. It was just a great team effort.”

Megan Rooney and Renee Harrison each had a net eagle late in the final round to rally for the Net crown, winning in a scorecard playoff.
It was the duo’s first team title.
“We complemented each other very well over the two days,” Rooney said. “That’s what partners do. Renee had a good stretch in the beginning (three birdies–two net and one natural–over four holes in the second round) and that got us going.”
Rooney added the team was four shots off the pace after round one but their mindset was in a good place.
“We were tied for…wherever…after the first round but thought we were playing well enough that we might be able to place somewhere,” she said. “But winning it? We were pleasantly surprised.”
The net eagles late in the final round proved to be the icing on the cake and showed their practice time is paying off.
“When you win, you’re always more confident,” Rooney said. “We’ve both put in a lot of work on our games. You play like you practice …maybe not all the time but this tournament it worked out well.”
